When is the best time to visit Miami? A month-by-month 2026–2027 guide to Miami weather, hotel prices, crowds, hurricane season and the events worth planning a trip around.
The short answer: for the best weather and biggest events, visit Miami from February through April. For good weather at better prices, come in November, early December or May. If price matters most, September is the cheapest month, but it's also the peak of hurricane season. Every month has something going on, and the event calendar should decide your dates as much as the weather does.
We checked official weather data, hurricane-season dates and the 2026–2027 event calendar so you don't have to. Dates and prices below were verified October 19, 2026.
Short on time? Our quick picks:
- Best weather: January to April, with average highs of about 76°F to 84°F and the least rain of the year (NOAA climate normals).
- Best value: early November to early December, when the rainy season is over but peak-season prices haven't kicked in yet.
- Biggest party month: March, with Calle Ocho, the Miami Open and Ultra Music Festival.
- Best for art lovers: early December, for Art Basel Miami Beach and Art Miami.
- Best for racing fans: the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, April 30 to May 2, 2027.
- Cheapest month: September. It's hot and stormy, but hotels are at their lowest rates (Miami Tourism).
When is the best time to visit Miami?
The best time to visit Miami is February through April. The weather is warm and dry, the ocean is swimmable, and the city's biggest festivals happen in these months. The trade-off is that this is peak season, so hotels, flights and restaurant reservations cost the most and fill up the fastest (Miami Tourism).
U.S. News recommends March through May, when temperatures are warm, hurricanes aren't a concern and crowds thin out as spring goes on (U.S. News Travel).
What is the cheapest time to visit Miami?
The cheapest time to visit Miami is late August through September, and September is usually the lowest-priced month. You'll find lower hotel rates, smaller crowds and easy restaurant reservations. In return you get heat, humidity and the highest hurricane risk of the year (Miami Tourism).
For a better balance, aim for the shoulder seasons: late April to early June and October to early November. Prices are below peak, the weather is good and crowds are moderate (Miami Tourism). Booking weeknights instead of weekends can also bring the price down.

The National Weather Service defines South Florida's wet season as May 15 to October 15. That stretch brings 60 to 70 percent of the year's rain, mostly as short, heavy afternoon thunderstorms (NWS Miami). In summer, plan beach and boat time for the morning and indoor activities for the afternoon.
When is hurricane season in Miami?
Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 (NOAA). The riskiest stretch for a trip is mid-August through early October. A summer or fall trip can still be a great deal. Just buy flexible or refundable bookings, consider travel insurance and keep an eye on the National Hurricane Center the week before you leave.
